Supervisor’s Weekly Update August 11, 2023!
Senator Pete Harckham is investing 2.1 Million dollars to further our electrification goals. He is giving each Community $100,000 to fund projects like air source heat pumps, solar panels, electric vehicles and more. We are thankful that Senator Pete Harckham has taken the initiative to significantly reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in our district. This opportunity to replace our gas and diesel powered lawn and grounds maintenance equipment will not only make a difference in the emissions coming from our community, but will also increase the quality of life of our residents through quieter maintenance of our parks and grounds.
The NYS Public Service Commission wants to hear from the public.
On October 11, 2022, New York Power Authority and Clean Path LLC filed an application with the New York State Public Service Commission (Commission), pursuant to Article VII of the Public Service Law, for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need regarding the Clean Path Transmission Project. If granted, the Certificate would authorize the construction, operation, and maintenance of approximately 178 miles of electric transmission line from the Town of Delhi, Delaware County to a point of interconnection in Astoria, Queens County, New York.
The proposed Project is composed of underground and submarine components and will travel through portions of Delaware, Dutchess, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Rockland, Sullivan, and Westchester counties (see figure on reverse side). The 131 miles of underground cable begins at the Fraser Substation in Delaware County and follows an existing right-of-way owned by various state and New York City agencies, as well as utility companies and ends at the Rainey Substation in Queens. The submarine portion includes a 47-mile transmission line in the Hudson, Harlem, and East Rivers, including six landfalls where the line enters or exits the rivers. The onshore components would include a 2,000-foot underground cable route and a substation facility within the power complex.
Dates and locations of the public forums and hearings are listed below. Information on how to submit comments is available in the Notice of Public Information Forums, Public Statement Hearings which can be found on the DPS Clean Path case page.
